Why is trance music not as popular in the US than in Europe?

I absolutely love trance music like Dj’s Armin Van Buuren , ATB, Ferry Corsten, Tiesto, Sunlounger, Dj Shah etc..but when I try to share this with people here in Ohio most people are not familiar with this type of music…but I think this music is wayyy better than rap or hip hop.

Every ‘trance’ type music I’ve heard sounds like sh!tty techno. And I HATE techno. but maybe I’ve been listening to the wrong stuff.

How is it that I can become calmed almost to the point of a trance by loud, chaotic music?

Alec Empire and Lightning Bolt are good examples of the kind of music that I’m talking about.
Panacea and Sun Ra are other good examples.
I’m pretty calm and laidback, to clarify and respond to mynickname’s answer.
I don’t concentrate on words. See above examples for reference. I let myself go and let the music take hold.

I have sorta of a big question- about Trance music?

Im not quite sure how to explain it, but…why is Trance music soo….idk, so affective, like certain types of Trance songs, just make everythig seem all like surreal? does anybody know what im kinda talking about? like 4 example u know how in the movies or music videos or whatever, the music sometimes climaxes before maybe a big dramatic kiss or something? its just so weird how like Trance music creates that effect when your listening to it, why is that? why does it effect our emotions so much? it’s rly interesting to me….thats why sometimes when im trying to relax or something, i listen to that type of music, its calming, yet makes everything seem all surreal or something, ack, idk how to explain it x.x im making no sense….
