Does anyone know if there is a reason patch that creates these old sounds? I’d like to use the old analog NES sound to create new songs. Thanks!
Answer by tonaritotoro
There is a way to turn your Gameboy into a music programmer. I have done this with something called Little Sound DJ. I do not believe the sound in those old video games was produced with an actual keyboard synthesizer.
Because the music had to fit within so many technical limitations, I believe it was all actually programmed rather than recorded.

I heard a track in a pub today, and i can’t quite find it… don’tt remember much so i’ll try to describe it:
its a minimal/trance track which starts with a woman voice talking about smth.., and the lyrics also mention about deja vu several times… i already searched it on google and youtube for hours and nothing….
PS: the track is pretty provocative, with a sexual nuance
Answer by Breezy <3

Despite the challenge, I’m going to teach myself how to play and I was wondering what they keys were or how they show up as notes when playing a keyboard, and seeing it written out on music sheets. Are there any sites that show? Does anyone know? Any sites to help me learn to play?

I would like any suggestions of software. The software must be free, must be able to mix songs so that it sounds like a DJ set. The software must also be able to export the whole piece and burn the piece – but as separate tracks. For example, you could play the whole thing as one continuous piece or skip to a track and play from then on.
Answer by Shaboy Hall1D
You wont get anything like that for free legally.
But i would suggest Virtual DJ, im sure you’ll be able to find it for free

im thinking about getting an audio mixer but i dont really know what it is used for. can someone explain what gets plugged into it
Answer by Mike
mixers are for your drum mics. generally when recording or playing live, a drummer will mic all of his drums plus the cymbals. all of the mics are plugged into the mixer, which can then be used to fine tune the volume and tone coming from each mic. from there, you plug one line from your mixer into the PA system/computer/whatever so that the drums are on a single track instead of severals tracks for each drum.
hope i explained this alright.

I need a list of mic’s that are ideal for recording on a computer, my budget is somewhere in the -0 area and where can I pick these up (internet sites or stores) Thanks
Answer by CanadaRAM
Look for a Samson USB microphone, they should be around
Blue also has the Snowball USB for a little over a hundred.
Your local music stores should stock these, or there are lots of online music stores to choose from — musiciansfriend, zzounds, B&H, etc.

Specficially, I have an Alesis Micron. Do I have to get the Alesis USB MIDI cable, or can I just get one that is compatible with all synthesizers/electric keyboards? Also, where can I get a MIDI cable? And is there a specific program I need to use the MIDI cable with? Like, what is a legit one? I’ve heard of something called Fruityloops or something like that.
Answer by stanleys_2001
You can get a MIDI cable at radio-shack.
It’s called a 5 pin DIN.
I use SONAR… to talk to my synths and record my audio.
I love it.

ACL Artist Profile: Warpaint
While known primarily these days for it’s beat-making (See: Flying Lotus, Baths) and lo-fi (See: No Age, Best Coast) scenes, Los Angeles is also home to many experimental and psychedelic groups. Perhaps the most exciting of these bands is Warpaint. The band has garnered significant praise from critics for their dreamy soundscapes and frighteningly good live shows, and they have even caught the …
